Harley Garland, 64, of 1337 Eagle street, died suddenly at 11:40 a.m. today at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1885, at Union Pier, and moved here from Michigan City in 1922.  In 1906, he married Elizabeth Finske, who died in 1928.  He married Bertrude[sic] Felden on Sept. 17, 1934.

He was an employe of the New York Central railroad for 42 years, and was president of the order of Railroad Conductors.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Pinch, of Niles; three stepsons, F. William and George D. Felden, of Niles, and Richard L. Felden, of Chicago, four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Kirkla.

Friends may call at the Kiger funeral home where services will be conducted by the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe at 4 pm. Wednesday. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
