FIRST DEATH FROM SCARLET FEVER

Reprogle Child on North Front Street Died Last Night--Buried Today

Out of the many cases of scarlet fever last fall and this spring, the first victim to die was the 14 months' old boy of Mr.and Mrs. Ezra Reprogle of north Front street.

The child died last night after several days' suffering and was buried this afternoon in Silver Brook cemetery.

As is customary in such cases where the afflicted has had a contagious disease no funeral services of any kind were held. Neither was there a funeral, the body being conveyed to the cemetery by Undertaker H.E. Price.

Mr. Reprogle is an employe of the French Paper company and have[sic] lived in Niles but a short time.

FIRST SCARLET FEVER VICTIM

Infant Son of Ezra Reprogle Died Last Night

The first death from scarlet fever since the epidemic broke out a few wees ago in Niles occurred last evening when the fourteen months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Reprogle passed away last night about 10:45 p.m.

This afternoon, Undertaker Price, assisted by Mr.  Reprogle, who boards with Mrs. C.J. Smith, Short street, opposite the house where the family lives, took the body to Silver Brook cemetery where interment occurred without funeral services.

There were three children in the family and all had the scarlet fever but the other two, a boy and a girl are recovering.

Yesterday as the youngest child continued to grow worse, Mrs. Lucy Rounds, who is a neighbor, went into quarantine with Mrs. Reprogle and will remain so long as her assistance is needed.
