JOHN CHARLWOOD DEAD


Word was received in Niles today of the death this morning of John Charlwood, at Elgin,Ill., from pneumonia.  The body will be brought to Niles for burial on Tuesday and burial will take place in Silver Brook cemetery. Mr. Charlwood is survived by a widow.  Mr. Charlwood came to Niles a number of years ago and conducted a bakery. Later he was employed as a traveling salesman until ill health prevented.

FUNERAL SERVICE TUESDAY


Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for John W. Charlwood, who died on Saturday morning in Elgin, Ill., after five days illness with influenza and pneumonia.  The services will be in charge of St. Joseph Valley Lodge, No. 4 F. and A. M. with an escort from Niles Commandery,  No. 12, Knights Templar.  Rev. W.W. Slee, pastor of the Methodist church will be the officiating minister.  Burial will take place in Silver Brook cemetery. Mr Charlwood was 52 years of age.  He was born in Buchanan and had spent most of his life in this vicinity.  For a number of years he engaged in the bakery business in Niles and later was employed as a traveling salesman. Mr. and Mrs. Charlwood moved to Elgin last August from Niles.  Mr. Charlwood is survived by a widow, Mrs. Mildred Charlwood, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Charlwood, of Buchanan, a daughter, Mrs. Roscoe Clark, of Niles and three brothers, Charles, Buchanan; Arthur, South Bend, and Knowles, of Baldwin, Miss. The body was [illegible]taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Clark, 214 N. Fifteenth street. Friends may call at the Rutherford Funeral Home tomorrow after 10 o'clock to view the body.  Besides the Masonic orders, Mr. Charlwood was a member of Niles Camp, Modern Woodmen of America.  Mrs. Charlwood and Mrs. Clark accompanied the body to Niles.
