Beverly Ann Plew Obituary

Beverly Ann (Hulett) Plew, a beacon of love and faith, passed away on December 21, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 92 in Niles, Michigan. Born on April 3, 1932, in South Bend, Indiana, Beverly was the cherished daughter of the late Vernon and Georgia Hulett. She was the heart of her family, a guiding light whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she knew.

Throughout her life, Beverly was known for her unwavering kindness and her deeply rooted faith. She dedicated over 50 years of her life as a devout Jehovah's Witness, living her beliefs through her actions and the love she shared with others. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through the joys and challenges of life with grace and resilience.

Beverly's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She was a devoted mother to Jim (Linda) Plew, Jean Johnson, Jerry Plew, and June Speegle (Sam). She is preceded in death by her eldest son Jack Plew. Each of her children was a testament to her exceptional nurturing and boundless love. She was a sister to Sharon McElroy and Shirley Burks. She is preceded in death by Veron Hulett, David Hulett and Darlene Hulett. Her siblings remember her as the glue that held the family together, always there with a listening ear and a comforting embrace. She was also a devoted grandmother, great grandmother and a great- great grandmother. She is preceded in death by 2 grandsons. She is an aunt, great Aunt and a great- great Aunt. Beverly was the last living Matriarch in her family and will be sorely missed.

Her professional life was marked by years of dedicated service, where she was not only a colleague but a friend to many. Beverly's work ethic and collaborative spirit were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside her. She also found joy and purpose in her involvement with various associations, where her contributions were both meaningful and lasting.

Beverly's interests were a reflection of who she was at her core—an exceptionally sweet and kind soul. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing every family visit as a highlight. Her presence was a gift, and those who knew her will forever remember the laughter and love that filled the room whenever she was near.

To describe Beverly as loving and kind hardly does justice to the profound impact, she had on those around her. Her faith-filled life was an inspiration, and she lived every day with an outpouring of love that knew no bounds. Beverly's character was marked by her selflessness and her constant consideration for others.

As we bid farewell to Beverly Ann (Hulett) Plew, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life of devotion, compassion, and unwavering faith. She was a treasured mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, 2nd great grandmother and friends whose memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched. Beverly's love and spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through our days with the same grace and love she so generously shared.

Her journey on earth may have come to a close, but her influence remains unending. We take solace in knowing that Beverly's legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through the lives she shaped and the countless memories we hold dear. Her passing is not an end, but a transition to a new beginning, as she is warmly welcomed into eternal peace.

Lon Michael Frucci Obituary

Lon Michael Frucci, fondly known as Mike, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025 in his home in Niles, Michigan. Born on June 1, 1948, in Buchanan, Michigan, he was the much loved husband, father, papa, brother, and friend who left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Mike was the beloved son of the late John and Virginia (Heiermann) Frucci. He grew up surrounded by the love of his siblings: Tink (Joanie) Frucci, Gina Frucci, Tina (Larry) Moore, and was predeceased by his brother Ervin Frucci. Mike's life was further enriched by his marriage of over 55 years to Jayme (Thompson) Frucci, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Amy (Nick) Fava and Aaron (Chantal) Frucci, who in turn blessed them with four adored grandchildren: Vincent Frucci, Gabriella Fava, Margaret Fava and Luciano Fava.

A proud graduate of Niles High School in 1966, Mike went on to serve his country with distinction during the Vietnam War as one of the highly skilled Navy Seabees. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign medal, National Defense Service medal, The Vietnam Service medal and ribbon and two Bronze Stars. His dedication and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his character, both in his military service and in his personal life.

Mike's work ethic and versatile skills were evident in his passion for golf. In retirement, he found joy in working at Plym Park golf course, where he would eagerly complete his tasks so that he could indulge in his love for the game. His interest in sports was not limited to golf; he was an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan State, demonstrating his team spirit at every opportunity.

Beyond his love for sports, Mike was a man of many talents and hobbies. He took great pleasure in making his own wine, a craft he approached with the same meticulous care that he applied to all his endeavors. His interest in classic cars and trucks were something he enjoyed throughout his life.

For over three decades, Mike, Jayme, and their close friends created cherished memories vacationing at Gem Beach in Ohio. These getaways were not just trips but a testament to the deep bonds and enduring friendships that Mike cultivated throughout his life.

Mike's skill as a jack of all trades was only matched by his sense of humor. He had a unique ability to find humor in the everyday, often laughing heartily at his own jokes. His laughter was contagious, and his presence brought light and levity to any gathering.

Above all, Mike's role as a Papa was one he held dear. His love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he took immense joy in their accomplishments and milestones. His loving nature extended to all aspects of his life, making him a treasured companion, confidant, and role model.

8 siblings, Tim (Corrine) Craig, Jeff Nichols, Michelle (Todd) Brocious, Tony (Kristin) Nichols, Michael Nichols, Denise Houck, Liz Nichols, and Desire (David) Szymczak.
And many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Wayne Nichols and mother Shirley Fideli sister Carrie Nichols and granddaughter, Emma Dillon
Barry was born in Niles, MI on October 26, 1961 to the late Wayne and Shirley Nichols. He met Rhonda Ort in grade school, later marrying on July 15, 1978 at First Baptist Church in Niles. They eventually would have 7 children, not counting the numerous foster children they raised at different times. Barry worked hard employing his entrepreneurial spirit providing for his large family in various ways. Though he provided well for his wife and family, it was never an end, but a means to enjoy life together.
He and his wife went to First Church of God in Niles, MI for many years, where their spiritual foundation was built. Presently, over the last fifteen years, they have grown spiritually at Open Door Christian Fellowship in Elkhart, IN.
Once his family grew to include grandchildren, his name forever changed to the world-famous Papa. His grandchildren fondly remember him as a true gentleman, humble, a great storyteller, humorous, completely involved, a spiritual adviser/father, Christ-like, selfless and generous, a teacher, a listener, and most of all a conduit of God's love to them. His example inspires them to love others. And they would want him to know, that they intend to follow his path so that someday they will worship God together with him.
Early on in their marriage Barry and Rhonda met Jesus Christ, and the trajectory of their life was decided. From that point on the power of the gospel was on full display. The effect of Barry Nichols on this earth was meteoric. Once his heart was open to God to use him, he influenced everyone around him. No one who met him left unchanged. Charismatic, wise, graceful, kind, empathetic, extremely hospitable, it was as though God dumped all his gifts on one man. His heart and home were open to all, there was no one too small. Everyone was family, or at least he made them feel that way. He was talented enough to compete with the elite, yet humble enough to stoop down to help the needy.
For those he knew best he was a counsellor, a jack-of-all-trades, a financial adviser, whatever he needed to be for their benefit. Most importantly, he was everyone's pastor. God chose him to love, nurture, and rescue his sheep. God's Spirit worked so naturally through his beautiful, outgoing personality, drawing people to him. His religion was the pure kind, not stale or empty, but the genuine sort, where God touches man through a man. (Ja 1:27) He offered his body as a living sacrifice to his Lord, and the beneficiaries are those still here.
With natural charisma and talent rarely found, he laid it all down and "took up his cross" to follow Jesus. His life verse defined his mindset well, "[S]eek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Mt. 6:33) He sought God first, and found Him, we were rewarded, and now it is his turn. He has earned his sought-after reward, the Master's voice saying, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." (Mt. 25:21)
Services to celebrate his life will be held at Hope Community Church at 2390 Lake Street, Niles, MI. The viewing will be held on Monday, May 5 from 5 to 8 pm, and the funeral will be from 11am on Tuesday May 6, with a graveside service following at Silverbrook Cemetery. Arrangements have been made by Hoven Funeral Home. And donations can be made to Sparrow House in Niles, MI.

Obituary Ola Marie Hayse

With peace and love in our hearts, we celebrate the life of Ola Marie Hayse, who passed away on September 19, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 80 years old.

Ola was the youngest of six children born on July 10, 1945, in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the late Benard and Velmarie Fouche. Also preceding her in death were siblings: Otis Fouche, Willeva Stokes, and Alton Fouche. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter, and her vibrant spirit was evident from an early age. She attended her early school years in Decatur, MI and graduated from Niles High School in 1963, where she was the school’s first Black varsity cheerleader. She attended Southwestern for 1 year before marrying Rudy Wade (d: 1999) of South Bend, Indiana and moved with him to Altus, Oklahoma where he served in food service in the United States Air Force. To this union, two daughters were born: Tracie Richardson (Southfield, Michigan), and Dawn (DawnyKat) Wade, who preceded her in death on May 30, 2015. This union ended and Ola married Stephen Hayse on June 23, 1979, and remained married for over 46 years.

Ola accepted Christ at an early age and had been a member of Franklin AME Church in Niles, Michigan, and sang in the youth choir. After moving to Detroit, Michigan she joined Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan.

She worked as a receptionist at R.E Daily Construction Company from 1982 to 1992 but retired after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

Among her many hobbies, Ola was a fierce card player when it came to playing Spades, Poker, and Bid Whist and was the consummate smack talker. She was a masterful cook whose meals were legendary, and a woman who took joy in the appreciation her dishes received. Her home was a haven of comfort, laughter, and love. She enjoyed fishing as well, taking yearly fishing trips to Canada with her husband and other relatives and close friends and often out-fished them! This was her happy place.

Ola was affectionately known as Auntie Gramma, Mom Ola, Oleo, and Punkin’ - a name her husband always called her.

Ola’s health began to decline around 2013 when she and others close to her began noticing memory losses. She would often write notes to herself to remind her of special birthdays and familial relationships. Though Alzheimer’s dimmed the light of her later years, Ola’s love, laughter, and legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish their memories: her devoted husband, Stephen Hayse; a loving daughter Tracie Richardson who helped provide her care; two grandchildren: Jason Richardson and Ashleigh Richardson, whom she loved and lived for; a sister: Etha Merlene Fouche of Decatur, GA; a brother, Lenard Fouche of Farmington Hills, MI.; a host of nieces and nephews, and longtime faithful friends that are too many to name.

Her family would like everyone to remember her for the caring, generous, and loving person she was before Alzheimer’s stole years of life and memories from her. To know Ola was to be loved deeply, and her family was her greatest joy—she gave them everything she had! She was the heart of our family and will be dearly missed.

Family and friends will gather in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services 615 East Main Street Niles, Michigan, Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00a.m. Ola will be laid to rest in Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services. Please share a memory or a message online: Halbritterwickens.com.

Namita Samadder Obituary

Namita Samadder, 56, of Niles, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away on September 16, 2025, following an unforeseen accident. Born on November 10, 1968, in the quaint town of Mehurpur, Bangladesh, Namita was a daughter to the late Gopal and Sutanggini (Mandel) Biswas. Her journey began amidst the vibrant culture of her native land, and she carried that rich heritage with her throughout her life.

Namita's early years in Bangladesh were filled with the love and teachings of her devoted parents. She grew up alongside her siblings Polu Biswas, Lily Boiragi, Niyoti Biswas, Kishor Biswas, and Somita Roy, who now mourn her loss while celebrating her remarkable life. Namita's heart found its counterpart in Dilip K. Samadder, whom she married on May 3, 1992, in a beautiful ceremony in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Their union was one of deep affection and mutual respect, and Dilip survives her, holding dear the memories they created together.

The couple was blessed with four sons, and though they faced the tragic loss of their son Akash Samadder, Namita's love and strength continued to shine through her surviving sons, George (Alisa) Samadder, Alfred (Emma) Samadder, and Dickson Samadder. Her role as a mother was one she cherished above all, and she instilled in her children the values by which she lived: kindness, compassion, and faith.

Namita's commitment to caring for others extended beyond her family. She pursued a career in nursing, a profession that allowed her to touch the lives of many with her healing hands and empathetic heart. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her active membership at the Dowagiac Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she not only practiced her beliefs but also formed a community with those who shared her devotion.

Her interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Namita loved to cook, her kitchen always filled with the aromas of her latest creations. Gardening was another passion, with her hands often covered in soil as she tended to her flowers, which bloomed as brightly as her smile. Her faith was a constant source of comfort and guidance; she found joy in reading her Bible and participating in zoom Bible study meetings, teaching others about the Seventh-day Adventist beliefs.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Dowagiac Seventh-day Adventist Church 410 Hill Street, Dowagiac, Michigan 49047.

Funeral services to celebrate Namita’s life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 4:00p.m. at the Dowagiac Seventh-day Adventist Church with a time of visitation beginning at 3:00p.m. Namita will be laid to rest at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
