Mrs. Hattie E. Hoisington, 70, of 732 Maple St., died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Billings Hospital, Chicago, where she had been a patient since July 8, She had been ill two months.

Mrs. Hoisington was born here Sept. 23, 1892, and was a lifetime resident of Niles.

Survivors include her husband, Paul W., two daughters, Mrs. Alvie Williamson, Niles, and Mrs. Gar Dickerson, Albion; two sisters, Mrs. Willis Low, Niles, and Mrs. Henry C. Deever, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Robert Corey, Niles; and 11 grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the church WSCS.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m .Saturday in the Pifer Funeral Home. Dr. Maurice McKean, pastor of her church, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the funeral home.

Johanson, Erik T.

Erik T. Johanson, 65, of 312 Barrett St., died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in Pawating Hospital, shortly after being admitted.

Mr. Johanson, who retired Nov. 1, following 30 years' service with the Kawneer Company here, was born Oct. 23, 1898, in Jonkoping, Sweden. He came to Niles from that city in 1927.

Survivors include his widow, Bertha; a son, Nils Erik Johanson, Huntington Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon Melvin, East Lansing, and Miss Linda Johanson, Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church, the elks Lodge, the Order of Free and Accepted Masons, the Eastern Star, the Kawneer Company 25-year and Management Club, and the Viking and Vasa Lodges of South Bend.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in his church. The Rev. Gordon D. Everett, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the Kiger Funeral Home, where Eastern Star Memorial services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday.

YVONNE JOHNSON, 4, DIES OF DIABETES

Yvonne Arlene Johnson, 4, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Johnson, Route 1, died this morning at 6 in Pawating hospital of diabetes, after being ill since Saturday.

She was born Aug. 22, 1938 in Leonidas, Mich., her parents coming to Niles 1 ½ years ago from there, and was a member of the First Evangelical Sunday school.

Surviving are the parents, the grandfathers, Oscar Reid, Niles, and Bert Johnson, Barron lake; a sister, June Marie, 11; and two brothers, Dale, 7, and Darrel, Jr., 2 ½.

The body is in the Rutherford funeral home, where services will be conducted at 2:30 Friday afternoon by the Rev. A.C. DeVries. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Jones, Gary Lee

Jones Baby Dies; Funeral Thursday

Gary Lee Jones, four-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones, Yankee street, died in his home Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 after a brief illness. He was born in Buchanan July 3, 1943, and his family moved to Niles Aug. 28.

His parents, two sisters, Sharon and Joyce; and two brothers, Robert, Jr. and Richard, survive him.

The body is in the family home where residents may call. Services will be held in the home Thursday afternoon at 2 conducted by Dr. Guy W. Simon, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Coroner Called

Coroner Adam Greenawalt, Cassopolis, was call to Niles Tuesday afternoon because of the death of Garey Lee Jones, four-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones, Howard township, who died Wednesday. He pronounced death due to pneumonia. Services were held this afternoon with burial in Silverbrook cemetery.

Kendrick, Lawrence A.

Lawrence A. Kendrick, 56, 109 N. 15th St., died at 4 a.m. today in his home. He had been ill three years.

Mr. Kendrick, a former accountant at the French Paper Company here, was born May 13, 1907 in Cleveland, Ohio. He came to Niles from Porter, Ind., 55 years ago. He married Esther R. Peckinpaugh June 24, 1942 in Holland. She survives.

Also surviving is a brother, W. Howard Kendrick, Niles.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Elks Lodge, the Order of Free and Accepted Masons, and was a veteran of World War II.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Ernest K. St. John, pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, St. Joseph, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the Kiger Funeral Home.

Kugler, Marvin

Marvin Kugler, 65, o f709 Grant St., died at 5:45 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sept. 2.

Mr. Kugler was born Dec. 6, 1897 in Buchanan. He was a life time resident of the area.

Surviving are a brother, Glen, Niles, and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Wyburn, Niles and Mrs. [illegible] Nielson, Bakersfield, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Pifer Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl J. Wickstrom, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the funeral home.

Piper, Dorothy

Mrs. Dorothy Piper, 45, of 401 N. 4th St., died at 8:25 p.m. Monday in Pawating Hospital, where she had been a patient five days. She had been ill three and a half months.

Mrs. Piper, an employe the last 10 years with the Rifenberg Insurance Agency was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Wabash, Ind. She came to Niles from Benton Harbor in 1940.

Survivors include her husband, Varus B.; her mother, Mrs. Herbert Harlan, Niles; and a sister, Mrs. John DeKoek, Kalamazoo.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in her church. The Rev. Cletus M. Rose, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m Thursday in the Pifer Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
