Edward J. Morehouse, 65, long-time resident of Niles who for the past two years had made his home in Quincy, Mich., died at 2:40 a.m. Monday in the Quincy Nursing Home following an illness of one month.

Mr. Morehouse was born March 24, 1892, in Niles and was a lithographer by trade. Surviving are . .[illiegible]. . .Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Ardis Himebaugh, of Quincy; four grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Paul Young and Mrs. Clara Williams, both of Niles.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Pifer Funeral Home here with the Rev. Earl J. Wickstrom, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning this evening.

Mrs. Walborg Enger
March 4, 1877-Sept. 17, 1957

Mrs. Walborg Enger, 80, of 507 North 13th Street, died at 12:10 a.m. today in her home following an illness of several months.

Mrs. Enger was born March 4, 1877, in Norway and come to Niles in 1902 from Chicago. Her husband, Louis, died July 27, 1946. Surviving are: a son, Walter Enger, of Niles; one grandchild, Mrs. Charles E. Smith, of Glendora, Calif., and three great grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Maccabee Lodge.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kiger-Halbritter Funeral Home here with the Rev. John Mac Lachlan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Edna Mae Joyce Neuens

Miss Edna Mae Joyce Neuens, 25, of rural route six, Niles, died at 12:02 p.m. Saturday in her home following an illness of 14 months.

Miss Neuens was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Chicago and came to Niles about two and a half years ago from Chicago.  She was employed as a bookkeeper at the University of Notre Dame.

Surviving are: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Theis, of Niles, and the grandparents, Mrs. M. Neuens, of Homewood, Ill., and Floy Beid, of Chicago.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Pfer Funeral Home with the Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Susan Lynn Pedersen

Committal services were held today at Silverbrook Cemetery for Susan Lynn Pedersen, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Pedersen, of 1130 Rivers Court, who died at 1:30 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital where she was prematurely born Friday.  The Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated.
[Surviving in addition to the parents] are: the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morrow and Mrs. L.P. Pedersen, all of Niles, and a sister, Kathy Lee, at home.

Herbert F. Harlan

Herbert F. Harlan, 69, of 401 North Fourth Street, owner of the Harlan Cab Company of Niles, died at 5 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been ill since March.

Mr. Harlan, a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World, was born May 30, 1888, in Anderson, Ind., and came to Niles from Benton Harbor in 1938.

Surviving are: his wife Mary; a son Myron Harlan, of Dearborn, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. [illegible] Piper, of Niles, and Mrs. John De Koek Koek, of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Holmes, of Anderson, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home here with the Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Bessie Scott

Mrs. Bessie Scott, 73, of 52 South Third Street, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Pawating Hospital where she had been a patient since Sept. 5. She had been ill for some time.

Mrs. Scott was born Jan. 20, 1884, in Seymour, Ind., and moved to Niles 28 years ago from Indianapolis, Ind. Surviving is her husband, James.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pifer Funeral Home here with the pastor of the first Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
