INFANT DIES SUDDENLY
Everett Edward, four months, son of Mr.and Mrs. Everett McBain, 130 Forest avenue, died Sunday morning at 10:45, after a brief illness with pneumonia. The body was taken this morning to the home of Mrs. McBain's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt, 2 1-4 miles northwest of the city, where the funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Terry, of Buchanan, will officiate. . .[illegible] . . . Silver Brook cemetery. The baby was the only child or Mr. and Mrs. McBain.

FUNERAL TODAY
Funeral services for Everett Edward, four months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett McBain, 130 Forest avenue, were conducted this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the home of Mrs. McBain's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt, northwest of Niles, by Rev. Terry of Buchanan. Burial was made in Silverbrook cemetery.

George C. McClary

KALAMAZOO--George C. McClary, 50, of Kalamazoo died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday in Kalamazoo after several years illness.
Mr. McClary was born Nov. 27, 1917 in Berrien County and had lived here most of his life. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two brothers, Lyle and William, both of Niles and a sister, Mrs. Henry Toney, also of Niles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Wyngarden, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home.

Babe Stillborn at South Bend Hospital
Lucille McLaughlin, infant daughter of Mr.and Mrs. George McLaughlin, 204 Parkway, was still born at 12:05 this morning in Epworth hospital, South Bend.
One sister, Georgia May McLaughlin, also survives.
The Rev. . . [illegible]. . will officiate at prayer service at 2 p.m.m Saturday in the Pifer funeral home. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
Morrison Glen Mell

NILES--Morrison Glenn Mell, 66, 1636 Hickory St., died at 7 p.m. Thursday at Pawating Hospital shortly after he was admitted.
Born Sept. 14, 1907 in South Bend, he was a tool and die maker retired in 1972 from the Kawneer Co., after 32 years of service. He lived most of his lifetime in Niles.
On Sept. 1, 1934 in St. Clair, Mich., he marred the former Minnie V. Varnum, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jack of Niles and Richard of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Alfred and Raymond, both of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. R.J. (Cleo) Beckwith of Niles and Mrs. Paul (Nelladean) Warner of Rockford, Mich. and four grandchildren.
Mr. Mell was a member of St. Joseph Valley Masonic Lodge, Niles Commandery and St. Joseph Valley Royal Arch Masons.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Pifer Chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald E. Gordon of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Masonic rites will be conducted by the St. Joseph Valley Lodge,. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday.
John Mereness

The body of John Mereness, a former resident of Niles, was brought here today and taken directly to Silver Brook cemetery for burial in the family lot. Mr. Mereness died in Westly hospital in Chicago on Monday, after three days of illness. Mrs. Ellen Lovejoy Mareness, mother of the deceased, and Mr. and Mrs. Schriver, friends, accompanied the body to Niles. Mr. Mareness was employe [sic] while in Niles at the French paper mills, and also conducted a news depot here.

Caroline Rollo Beer

DAUGHTER OF PIONEER ROLLO FAMILY IS BURIED IN NILES
The body of Mrs. Caroline Rollo Beer, who died on Sunday afternoon at the home of her nephew, Chester R. Hodgkins, at Quincy, Illinois after several weeks illness with pneumonia, arrived in Niles this morning at 11 :00 o'clock, and was taken to the Rutherford Funeral Home. Burial was made in Silver Brook cemetery this afternoon at 3: 00 o'clock. No services were held here as services had been held in Quincy.
Mrs. Beer was a member of the pioneer Rollo family of Niles, and had many friends in the city. She spent practically all of her childhood and early womanhood here. She was the daughter of late Chester and Fannie Rollo, deceased. She was born in Ypsilanti, January 24, 1839. A few years later the family moved to Niles. She was a consecrated member of the Niles Presbyterian church and was prominent in the work of that church.
In 1864, she was married to George M. Coan, at one time organist of the Presbyterian church, and lived here until his death in 1881; after which she went to make her home at Rushford, Minnesota. She was married there to W.W. Beer, who died in 1912. Since Mr. Beer died she had been making her home with her nephew, C. R. Hodgkins, at Quincy, Ill. No children survive her, her nearest living relatives being Mr.and Mrs. Hodgkins and their daughter, Mrs. H.D. Lapp, of Chicago, who accompanied the body to Niles.

CAROLINE BOND TAKEN BY DEATH
Pioneer School Teacher Is Suddenly Stricken
Miss Caroline Bond, after 24 hours of illness died this morning at 6:30 o'clock at her apartment at 14 S. Seventh street. The cause of death was heart affection which followed an attack of indigestion suffered yesterday. Her condition became alarming at once, and the attending physician put an nurse on the case early last evening. She suffered the heart attack about 6 o'clock and died before the physician reached her bedside. Miss Bond was in advanced years.
The funeral plans have not been completed pending the arrival of Mrs. Carrie DeWeese, of Buffalo, N.Y., a niece, who will leave that city for Niles this evening. The services will probably be held on Monday.
Miss Bond was a member of one of Niles pioneer families, her father having been John Bond. She was born in Niles, was educated in the Niles public schools, and was for many years a teacher in the Niles schools. The family home was near Seventh and Broadway until recently when it was sold by Miss Bond. For two winters Miss Bond was in Florida on acount[sic] of her ill health. She was the last of a family of five girls, one of whom was the wife of Major L.A. Duncan, deceased.

Funeral on Monday
Funeral services for Miss Caroline Bond will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at this Presbyterian church. Rev. .T. Scherer will officiate. Burial will take place in Silver Brook cemetery. The plans for the funeral were made after the arrival here from Buffalo, N.Y., this morning of Mrs. Truman De Weese, a niece of the deceased. The body may be viewed at the church on Monday between the hours of 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock.
