The Friends of Silverbrook Cemetery nonprofit group organized in 2007 and this year we would like to thank each and every one of you for 15 years of interest and dedicated support. We continue to assist the City of Niles in preserving the history and integrity of our cemetery, provide flags for our Veterans, and coordinate with the Niles History Center staff organizing a walking tour each fall. The cemetery provides a beautiful setting for the tour while at the same time highlighting many interesting former area citizens who are buried within Silverbrook. Our website is sophisticated and yet easy to access information. As further assistance to those who wish to navigate the grounds on their own, we provide paper maps to the cemetery office staff to hand out upon request.
Some very generous donors have enabled us to complete a special project this year. We have purchased signage and posts for every section of the cemetery with plans to have them installed by the end of this summer. This will also aid family members and genealogists in locating specific grave sites.
