Mrs. Susan Kinney Winborn, North Fifth street, who died Saturday afternoon, was a pioneer of Michigan. She came from Ohio overland to Niles in 1859 and had resided continuously in this city until her death. She was born Aug. 29 1828. She affiliated with the Baptist denomination at the age of 12 years and continued in the faith. The funeral will be held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Winborn, 1337 North Fifth street, Tuesday, Jan 9, at 2: 00 p.m. Burial at Silver Brook Cemetery.

Beulah Irene Yeager, 65, 251 Cass St., Niles, died Monday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at her apartment.

Beulah Irene Yeager, 65, 251 Cass St., Niles, died Monday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at her home.

Yeager was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God Full Gospel Church. She was born July 24, 1922 in Jonesville, Va., and spent the remainder of her life in Niles.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Gowen of Niles; two daughters, Jane Barrett of Lacy, Wash. and Rhonda Barrett of Niles; two brothers, Aaron Anderson Jr. and James Anderson of Niles; a sister, Joan Cassell of Niles; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Church of God Full Gospel. The Rev. Morton Hemphill, the pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. To 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Arrangements were made by Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.

Obituary

Shirley Maxine Tebo, 92 of Niles, passed away at her home on Friday, November 4, 2022

Shirley was born on October 7, 1930 in Niles to the late Andrew and Bernice (Hoover) Norman.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sylvester Tebo, Sr., her loving companion of many years, James Broach, daughter Cindy Strauss and her grandson, David Tebo.

She is survived by her children; Diane Follmer of Niles, Corinne (Paul) Karkiewicz of South Bend, Andrea Tebo of Raleigh North Carolina and Sylvester (Sally) Tebo, Jr. of Niles. She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and 4 Step Great Great Grandchildren.

Shirley loved to crochet and do embroidering. She also enjoyed going to flea markets and craft shows. All who knew her, knew of her deep love of her family. She will be missed and her memory will be treasured.

Visitation for Shirley will be on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. Niles. A funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00am.  Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Judith "Judy" Ann (Probst) Stone of Statesville, North Carolina | 1945 - 2022 | Obituary

Judith "Judy" Ann (Probst) Stone, age 77, formerly of Niles, MI passed away on October 28, 2022 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC.

Judy was born on June 7, 1945 in Niles, MI to Harold and Fanny (Molica) Probst. She met the love of her life, David Stone, at the age of 15 and they were married in 1964. She worked as a hand folder at Simplicity Pattern Co and was also a beautician. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, Gigi (great-grandmother), and friend. She enjoyed crocheting, playing dice, and even more so, enjoyed family and loved the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Jerry Probst.

She is survived by her brother Tom (Sara) Probst, her three children Penny (Frank) Zelasko, Susie (Donald) Munday, and Shannon Stone, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation for Judy will be held from 5 – 8 pm on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 E. Front St., Buchanan, MI 49107. Funeral service will be held at 9 am on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Hoven Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Laurent officiating. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles, MI.

Obituary

Madesta Ellen Robinson, 102 of Niles, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 in Lake Zurich, IL.

Madesta was born on May 8, 1920 in New Carlisle, Indiana to the late William E. and Edna O. DePoy. She has been a resident of Niles since 1928 moving to Niles from Indiana.

She attended the Niles schools and graduated in 1938 from Niles High School. Then in 1939 she attended the South Bend College of Commerce and graduated in 1940.

Madesta was employed in the home office of Associates Investment Company in South Bend.

On October 19, 1946 she married Noble L. Robinson in Niles at the Evangelical Church.

After she was married, Madesta and Noble started their family  In September of 1969 she became the secretary of First Presbyterian Church where she worked until May 1985 when she retired.

She was preceded in death by her husband Noble in 2009.  She is also preceded by her brother Max DePoy, her parents and her son-in-law, Ronald Flubacker.

She is survived by a daughter Patricia Ann  Flubacker of Barrington, IL and by a son Dr. Michael E. (Jane) Robinson of Barrington, IL and by 5 grandchildren, Carlin (Greg) Shifler of Seattle, WA, Morgan Flubacker of Bloomington, IL, Kyle (Kristen) Flubacker of Mount Prospect, IL, Laura (Blake) Smith of Barrington, IL, and Jeffrey (Laura) Robinson of Hoffman Estates, IL.  She has 9 Great Grandchildren.

Madesta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Niles and served as an Elder, Deacon and on the Foundation Board of the Church after her retirement. She enjoyed her family, going to the YMCA, and the Riverfront for her exercise. She loved to work in her flower beds and yard in the Spring and Summer time.

Visitation for Madesta will be on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles.  A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church 13 S. 4th Street Niles. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Memorials in Medesta’s name may be made to the Foundation of the First Presbyterian Church of Niles.
