Funeral services for Clair C. "Chris" Peel, 52, of 289-A Oak St., Socasttee, S.C., are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home of Niles by the Rev. Arnold O. Schaap of Edwardsburg.

Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Peel died at 6:55 am. Friday at Conway Hospital in Conway, S.C., following a brief illness.

Peel was born Feb. 16, 1938 in Marsteller, Pa. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Peel was employed as a singer in night clubs, performing under the name of Chris Quick in South Carolina, and had belonged to "The Del-Vikings," a vocal quintet from the 1950s.

Survivors include his mother, Jennie Peel of Niles; three daughters, Christy Peel of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Karen Coleman of Japan and Tara Peel of Mishawaka, Ind.; a sister, Carol Egmer of Niles; two brothers, Leon Peel and Harold Peel, both of Niles; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
