Samuel Phebus Dies Today in Niles Hospital
Samuel Phebus, 82, of 903 Fort street, died Monday at 5:40 p.m. in Pawating hopsital, after an illness of several years. He had been hospitalized for six days.
He was born in Kosciusko county, Ind., July 5, 1863, and came to Niles from Rochester, Ind. 26 years ago. He was a retired car repairman on the Michigan Central railroad.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John Wolf, Niles; Mrs. Ivan Fenstermaker, 332 South Fourth street; and Mrs. Donald Wagoner, 903 Fort street; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted from the Kiger funeral home, Thursday at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Howard Elifritz, of the Cassopolis Church of God. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Phebus was a member of the South Niles Community church.
