Tillie Schram, 50

Mrs. Schram was born May 15, 1960 in South Bend, Ind. to John T. Hernicz and Lucille Checchia. Tillie graduated from Penn High School in the Class of 1979 and moved to Niles 14 years ago from Mishawaka. She had been employed at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend for 15 years.
She was an avid NASCAR fan and University of Notre Dame football fan. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Tillie was first married to Gregory McDonald and later, on Feb. 9, 2001 in Niles, she married Gerald D. Schram, Jr., who preceded her in death April 20, 2006.
Mrs. Schram is survived by a son, Travis McDonald of Niles; a daughter, Stephanie Manuel of South Bend; three grandchildren; mother, Lucille Knox of Mishawaka; father, John. T. (Marion) Hernicz of South Bend; brother, Brian Knox of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Christine (Al) Sanders of Goshen, Ind., Marla (Nap) Napowocki of Edwardsburg and Lana (Dan) Ford of LaPorte, Ind.; several nephews, nieces and cousins; and her companion of three years, Richard Morrison of Niles.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Richard E. Knox, who died Oct. 8, 2009.
Funeral services for Tillie Schram will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Thad Stout of Community Baptist Church in Edwardsburg officiating.
Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions in memory of Tillie may be made to the donor’s choice.
